The roof rack system of the Nissan Rogue is designed for use only with properly installed cross bars. Never place any cargo directly on the roof side rails, as cross bars are required to support the load safely and maintain structural balance.
The service load capacity of the roof side rails is 163 lb (74 kg). Do not exceed the capacity of the accessory cross bars, and ensure the overall vehicle load stays within the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).
WARNING
- Always install cross bars before loading cargo. Placing items directly on the side rails or roof may cause damage.
- Drive carefully when the vehicle is loaded near the roof rack limit, especially if a significant portion of the weight is on the cross bars.
- Heavy rooftop cargo may affect vehicle stability and handling during sudden maneuvers.
- Distribute cargo evenly along the cross bars.
- Do not exceed the maximum roof rack load.
- Secure all cargo with proper straps to prevent shifting, which could cause injury during a sudden stop or collision.
CAUTION
Use care when lifting items onto the roof rack. If a load cannot be comfortably lifted from the ground, use a ladder or stool.
