Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Basic information

For safe and efficient operation of the Nissan Rogue, each tire — including the spare, if equipped — should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure listed on the vehicle placard or tire inflation label. If the vehicle is fitted with tires of a different size than specified, determine the correct pressure for those tires separately. The Nissan Rogue includes a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) designed to illuminate a low tire pressure warning when one or more tires become significantly under-inflated. When the warning appears, stop as soon as safely possible and adjust tire pressure. Driving with low pressure causes overheating, increases wear, reduces fuel economy, and may affect braking and handling.

The TPMS is an added safety feature, but it does not replace regular tire maintenance. It remains the driver’s responsibility to maintain proper tire pressure, even if the pressure has not yet fallen to a level that triggers the TPMS warning light.

The Nissan Rogue is also equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator that illuminates when the system is not working correctly. This malfunction warning uses the same indicator as the low tire pressure light.

When a malfunction is detected, the warning light flashes for about one minute before remaining solid. This sequence repeats at every startup until the issue is resolved. When malfunctioning, the TPMS may not detect low tire pressure. TPMS issues may result from installing incorrect tires or wheels that prevent the system from operating properly.

Always check the TPMS malfunction indicator after installing replacement wheels or tires to ensure the system continues to function correctly.

Additional information

• The spare tire on the Nissan Rogue is not equipped with TPMS sensors, so its pressure is not monitored.
• The TPMS activates only above 16 MPH (25 km/h) and may not detect sudden rapid pressure loss, such as from a puncture.
• The low tire pressure warning light does not automatically reset after inflating the tire. Drive above 16 MPH (25 km/h) for the system to update.
• The “Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” message appears only when low pressure is detected—not during TPMS malfunctions.
• Tire pressure varies with temperature. Do not reduce pressure after driving; hot tires show higher pressure readings. Low outdoor temperatures can reduce pressure enough to trigger warnings.
• You can check individual tire pressures (excluding the spare) via the Nissan Rogue vehicle information display.

WARNING

• If the low tire pressure light illuminates while driving the Nissan Rogue, avoid sudden braking or steering. Reduce speed, find a safe location, and stop to inspect all four tires. Driving on severely under-inflated tires can cause tire failure and loss of control.
• Because the spare tire lacks a TPMS sensor, mounting it will cause the system warning light to flash for one minute and then stay on. Have the tire repaired or replaced and the system reset.
• Using tires not approved for the Nissan Rogue may interfere with proper TPMS operation.
• Do not use tire sealants or liquid fillers; they can damage TPMS sensors.

CAUTION

• The TPMS may not function correctly if the Nissan Rogue is fitted with tire chains or if wheels are buried in deep snow.
• Avoid placing metallic films or antennas on the windows, as these may interfere with sensor signals.

Certain electronic devices may temporarily interfere with TPMS operation on the Nissan Rogue, including:

• Nearby radio-frequency equipment or facilities
• Devices inside or near the vehicle operating on similar frequencies
• Computers, power inverters, or similar electronic devices

The warning light may illuminate if:

• The Nissan Rogue is fitted with wheels lacking TPMS sensors
• A replacement TPMS sensor was not registered
• A non-specified wheel is installed

TPMS with Easy Fill Tire Alert

WARNING

After tire rotation, do not rely on the Easy-Fill Tire Alert. Always use a tire pressure gauge to set pressure according to the Nissan Rogue Tire and Loading Information label.

When adding air to an under-inflated tire, the Easy-Fill Tire Alert system provides visual and audible feedback outside the Nissan Rogue to help achieve proper cold tire pressure.

Vehicle set-up:

1. Park the vehicle safely on a level surface.

2. Apply the parking brake and push the park button to shift to the P (Park) position.

3. Place the ignition switch in the ON position. Do not start the engine.

Operation:

1. Add air to the tire.

2. After a few seconds, the hazard indicators will start flashing.

3. When the designated pressure is reached, the horn beeps once and the hazard indicators stop flashing.

4. Perform the above steps for each tire.

• If the tire is over-inflated more than approximately 4 psi (30 kPa), the horn beeps and the hazard indicators flash 3 times. To correct the pressure, briefly press the valve core to release air. When the pressure drops to the correct level, the horn beeps once on the Nissan Rogue.
• If the hazard indicators do not flash within approximately 15 seconds after inflation begins, the TPMS with Easy Fill Tire Alert on the Nissan Rogue is not operating.
• The TPMS will not activate the Easy Fill Tire Alert under the following conditions:
  • If there is interference from an external device or transmitter
  • Insufficient airflow from a portable inflator
  • Electrical equipment is operating in or near the Nissan Rogue
  • A TPMS malfunction
  • A malfunction of the horn or hazard indicators
• If the system does not activate due to interference, move the Nissan Rogue forward or backward about 3 ft (1 m) and try again.

If the Easy Fill Tire Alert does not operate, use a tire pressure gauge.
