Basic information

Federal regulations require tire manufacturers to display standardized identification information on the sidewall of every tire. These markings describe essential tire characteristics and include the Tire Identification Number (TIN), which is used for recall tracking and safety certification — important information for Nissan Rogue owners.

Nissan Rogue tire information
Example

  1. Tire size (example: P215/60R16 94H)

1. **P** — indicates the tire is designed for passenger vehicles (may not appear on all tires).

2. **215** — the width of the tire in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall.

3. **60** — aspect ratio (height-to-width percentage).

4. **R** — radial construction.

5. **16** — wheel diameter in inches.

6. **94** — load index (how much weight each tire can support).

7. **H** — speed rating (do not exceed this indicated maximum speed).

Example (Type A) (if so equipped)

  1. TIN (Tire Identification Number) example: DOT XX XX XXX XXXX

1. **DOT** — abbreviation for the “Department of Transportation”.

The symbol may appear above, below, or to either side of the Tire Identification Number, depending on the tire design used on the Nissan Rogue.

2. Two-digit code: Manufacturer’s identification mark

3. Two-digit code: Tire size

4. Three-digit code: Optional tire type code

5. Four numbers: week and year of production

For example, “3103” indicates the 31st week of 2003. If the code is not visible on one sidewall, check the opposite sidewall of the tire on your Nissan Rogue.

  1. TIN (Tire Identification Number) for a new tire (example: DOT XXX XXXXXX XXXX)

1. DOT — abbreviation for the “Department of Transportation”.

The symbol may appear above, below, or next to the Tire Identification Number, similar to how it appears on factory-installed tires of the Nissan Rogue.

2. Three-digit code: Manufacturer’s identification mark

3. Six-digit descriptive code: Identifies key characteristics of the tire

4. Four numbers: week and year of production

As in the earlier example, “3103” means the tire was produced in the 31st week of 2003.

  1. Tire ply composition and material

The number of plies (layers) of rubber-coated fabric within the tire structure.

Manufacturers also list materials used — steel, nylon, polyester, or other compounds — important for correct tire replacement on a Nissan Rogue.

  1. Maximum permissible inflation pressure

This value indicates the highest allowable air pressure for the tire. Do not exceed this pressure under any circumstances.

  1. Maximum load rating

This specifies the maximum load, in kilograms and pounds, that the tire is designed to support.

When replacing the tires on your Nissan Rogue, always install tires with a load rating equal to or higher than the original specification.

  1. Terms “tubeless” or “tube type”

Indicates whether the tire requires an inner tube (“tube type”) or is designed to operate without one (“tubeless”).

  1. The word “radial”

The term appears if the tire has radial construction, which is standard for most modern vehicles including the Nissan Rogue.

  1. Manufacturer or brand name

This section shows the tire manufacturer or brand designation.

Other tire-related terminology

In addition to the definitions provided above, “Intended Outboard Sidewall” refers to:

(1) The sidewall featuring a white stripe, raised lettering, or more prominent molded branding compared with the opposite sidewall, or (2) The outward-facing sidewall of an asymmetrical tire that must always face outward when mounted — important to ensure proper handling and stability on the Nissan Rogue.
