WARNING
- The pretensioners cannot be reused after activation. They must be replaced together with the retractor and buckle as a complete unit in your Nissan Rogue.
- If the vehicle becomes involved in a collision but a pretensioner is not activated, be sure to have the pretensioner system inspected and, if needed, repaired. It is recommended you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
- No unauthorized changes should be made to the components or wiring of the pretensioner system. This prevents damage or accidental activation. Tampering with the pretensioners may result in serious personal injury.
- It is recommended you visit a
NISSAN dealer for any work on or
around the pretensioner system.
Installation of additional electrical equipment should also be performed by a NISSAN dealer. Unauthorized test equipment and probing devices must not be used on the pretensioner system.
- If you need to dispose of a pretensioner or scrap the vehicle, it is recommended you visit a NISSAN dealer. Correct disposal procedures are described in the appropriate NISSAN Service Manual. Incorrect disposal could cause personal injury.
The pretensioner system in the Nissan Rogue may activate together with the supplemental air bag system in certain collisions. Working with the seat belt retractor, it helps tighten the seat belt during a qualifying impact, improving occupant restraint for front and rear outboard seating positions.
Each pretensioner is integrated into the seat belt retractor. These seat belts are operated in the same way as traditional seat belts.
When a pretensioner activates, smoke may be released and a loud sound may be heard.
This smoke is not harmful and does not indicate a fire. However, avoid breathing it in, as it may cause irritation or temporary choking. Anyone with a history of respiratory issues should move to fresh air immediately.
After pretensioner activation, load limiters may allow controlled webbing release to help reduce chest forces on the occupant.
The supplemental air bag warning light
will illuminate if there is a malfunction
in the pretensioner system. See "Supplemental
air bag warning light". If the warning light indicates a
malfunction, have the system inspected promptly by a
NISSAN dealer.
When selling your Nissan Rogue, please inform the buyer about the pretensioner system and direct them to the appropriate safety sections in this Owner's Manual.
