Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Precautions on seat belt usage

When seat belts are worn correctly — with the occupant seated upright, positioned well back in the seat, and both feet on the floor — the risk of injury or fatality in an accident is significantly reduced. Proper seat belt use enhances the effectiveness of the Nissan Rogue safety systems, including supplemental air bags. NISSAN strongly urges every driver and passenger to buckle up every time the Nissan Rogue is driven.

Most U.S. states and Canadian provinces or territories require seat belts to be worn at all times while the vehicle is in motion.

WARNING

• Every person in the Nissan Rogue must wear a seat belt at all times. Children should always be properly secured in the rear seat and in an appropriate child restraint.
• The seat belt must be adjusted snugly for proper protection. Improper or loose seat belts can reduce the effectiveness of the restraint system and increase injury risk.

  Serious injury or death may occur if a seat belt is worn incorrectly.

• Always route the shoulder belt over the shoulder and across the chest. Never place it behind your back, under your arm, or across your neck. It must remain on your shoulder without touching the face or neck.
• Position the lap belt low and snug around the hips — never around the waist. A belt worn too high increases the risk of internal injuries during an accident.
• Ensure the seat belt tongue clicks securely into the correct buckle.
• Do not wear the belt twisted or inside out, as this reduces its protective capability.
• No more than one person should ever use the same seat belt.
• Never transport more passengers than there are available seat belts in the Nissan Rogue.
• If the seat belt warning light stays illuminated when all belts are fastened and doors are closed, the system may require service.

  NISSAN recommends having it inspected by a NISSAN dealer.

• Do not modify or tamper with the seat belt system. Altering routing, adding materials, or installing devices may compromise seat belt performance and lead to serious injury.
• Once a seat belt pretensioner has deployed, it must be replaced along with the retractor.

  This service should be performed by a NISSAN dealer.

• All seat belt assemblies should be inspected after any collision — including retractors and hardware.

  Belts in use during a crash should be replaced unless the impact was minor and the belts show no damage and operate properly. Unused belts must still be inspected and replaced if damage or malfunction is found.

• All child restraints and related hardware must be inspected after any collision. Follow the restraint manufacturer’s guidance regarding inspection and replacement.

  Replace any damaged child restraint.
