WARNING
If your vehicle overheats (temperature gauge extremely high, loss of power, abnormal noise), take the following steps:
1. Safely pull off the road and apply the parking brake.
2. Push the park button to shift into P (Park). Do not turn off the engine yet.
3. Turn off the air conditioner. Open the windows, move the temperature control to maximum heat, and the fan to high.
4. Exit the vehicle and check for steam or coolant escaping under the hood. If steam or coolant is present, turn off the engine immediately. Do not open the hood until no more steam is visible.
5. Open the hood.
WARNING If steam or water is still coming from the engine, stand clear — hot coolant can cause severe burns.
6. Visually inspect the drive belt for damage or looseness. Check that the cooling fan is running and that there are no leaks in the hoses or radiator. If coolant is leaking or the fan is not running, stop the engine.
WARNING Keep clear of belts and the cooling fan. The fan may engage at any time.
7. After the engine cools down, check the coolant level in the reservoir while the engine is running. Add coolant if necessary. Have the vehicle inspected and repaired — NISSAN recommends contacting a dealer.
