The sonar system activates automatically when the ignition switch is in the ON position and the shift lever is in D (Drive) or R (Reverse).

To set up sonar system functions, follow these steps:

1. Press the button until “Settings” appears in the display, then push the scroll dial. Select “Driver Assistance,” then press the dial.

2. Select “Parking Assist” and push the scroll dial.

3. Scroll through the menu to adjust the following options:

• Rear Cross Traffic Alert (if equipped)
  • Turn ON/OFF the Rear Cross Traffic Alert feature.
• Moving Object
  • Turn ON/OFF the Moving Object Detection (MOD).
• Auto Show Sonar
  • Displays sonar information automatically when the system activates.
• Front Sonar
  • Turns ON/OFF the front sonar sensors.
• Rear Sonar
  • Turns ON/OFF the rear sonar sensors.
• Sonar Distance
  • Adjusts detection range: Long / Medium / Short.
• Sonar Volume
  • Selects tone volume: High / Medium / Low.

Sonar system limitations

WARNING

The limitations listed below describe conditions where the sonar system may not operate correctly. Ignoring these limitations could result in serious injury or death.

• Read and understand the sonar system limitations described in this section.

  Bad weather conditions can reduce sonar performance or cause false alerts.

• The sonar system turns OFF at speeds above 6 MPH (10 km/h) and automatically turns ON again at lower speeds.
• Ultrasonic interference from automatic car washes, compressed-air brakes, or pneumatic tools may reduce accuracy or trigger false alerts.
• The sonar system does not prevent contact with small or moving objects. Always move slowly and remain cautious.
• The sonar system may not detect certain objects, including fluffy materials (snow, cloth), thin items (rope, wire, chain), wedge-shaped obstacles, complex shapes, or multiple objects close together.
• The sonar system may not detect obstacles at speeds above 3 MPH (5 km/h) and may miss certain angled or moving objects.
• The sonar system may not detect pedestrians, small children, or animals.
• The sonar system may not operate under these conditions:
  • Rain, snow, ice, dirt, or debris covering the sensor.
  • Loud sounds near the vehicle.
  • Obstacles angled sharply toward the front or rear.
  • Extreme heat or cold around the sonar sensors.
• The sonar system may activate unintentionally under these conditions:
  • Overgrown grass around the Nissan Rogue.
  • Bumps, protrusions, or manhole covers.
  • Driving through curtains, flags, or hanging materials.
  • Snow or ice buildup behind the vehicle.
  • Driving on steep hills.

System temporarily unavailable

When sonar blockage is detected, the system on the Nissan Rogue will automatically deactivate to prevent incorrect operation.

The system will remain unavailable until the obstructing conditions are cleared.

Temporary environmental factors such as splashing water, heavy mist, or fog may block the sonar sensors. The same blocked condition may occur if ice, frost, dirt or other debris accumulates on or around the sensors.

Action to take:

Once these conditions are gone and the sensors are no longer obstructed, the sonar system will resume operation automatically.

System maintenance

The sonar sensors A and B (4 or 6 depending on model) are located on the front and rear bumpers of the Nissan Rogue.

• Always keep the sensor areas clean to ensure proper system performance.
• If dirt is present, gently wipe the sonar sensors with a soft cloth, taking care not to cause damage.
• Be aware that temporary conditions such as splashing water, fog, or mist can block the sensors. Ice, frost or dirt buildup can also obstruct the sonar. Inspect the area and remove anything covering the sensors.
• Avoid strong impacts to the areas surrounding the sonar sensors. Do not remove or disassemble the sensors. If the bumper or surrounding areas have been damaged in an accident, have the sensors inspected. It is recommended to visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
• Do not apply stickers, accessories, or additional paint (including clear film) on or near the sonar sensors. This may cause incorrect readings or system malfunction.
• When washing the Nissan Rogue with a high-pressure washer, do not spray the sensors directly. High-pressure water can damage them or cause improper operation.
