Most common factors contributing to vehicle corrosion
Environmental factors influencing corrosion rate
Moisture
Sand, dirt and water accumulation on the underside of your Nissan Rogue can accelerate corrosion. Wet floor carpeting should be removed and dried fully.
Relative humidity
Corrosion develops faster in humid climates, especially where temperatures stay above freezing or where road salt is used.
Temperature
Higher temperatures increase corrosion speed in poorly ventilated areas.
Air pollution
Industrial pollution, coastal salt air or heavy use of road salt will accelerate corrosion of metal surfaces.
Road salt can also cause faster deterioration of painted areas.
To protect your vehicle from corrosion
CAUTION
De-icing chemicals used on roads are extremely corrosive and will accelerate deterioration of underbody parts such as brake lines, exhaust system, floor panels and suspension components.
During winter, the underbody should be cleaned regularly.
For additional corrosion protection where needed, consult a NISSAN dealer.
