Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Basic information

The sonar system uses sensors in the front and rear bumpers to warn the driver of nearby obstacles by emitting audible tones. When active, the sonar view appears automatically in the vehicle information display.

WARNING

• The sonar system is a convenience feature and not a replacement for careful parking.
• The driver remains fully responsible for safety during parking and low-speed maneuvers. Always check the surroundings visually.
• Understand the sonar system’s limitations. Indicator colors represent different distances to obstacles.
• Weather conditions or nearby ultrasonic sources (car washes, compressed air brakes, pneumatic tools) may affect system performance or trigger false alerts.
• This system is designed to help the driver detect large stationary objects to avoid damage to the Nissan Rogue.
• The sonar system may not detect small or moving objects. It may also miss objects below the bumper, very close to the bumper, or lying on the ground.
• The following objects may not be detected: fluffy items (snow, cloth, cotton), thin objects (rope, chain, wire) or wedge-shaped items.
• If loud sounds or ultrasonic interference is present, the sensors may not detect obstacles accurately.

If the bumper fascia becomes damaged or misaligned, the sonar detection zone may be distorted, causing inaccurate readings or false alarms.

CAUTION

• Loud noise (radio, open windows, etc.) can make the sonar alert inaudible.
• Keep the sensors clean and free of snow, ice or heavy dirt buildup. Never scrape them with sharp tools, as damage will reduce accuracy.

System operation

The sonar system in the Nissan Rogue provides both visual and audible alerts when obstacles are detected around the vehicle.

The system alerts you in the following situations:

• Front obstacles when the shift lever is in D (Drive)
• Front and rear obstacles when the shift lever is in R (Reverse)

How the system alerts you to obstacles:

The sonar system automatically turns OFF at speeds above 6 MPH (10 km/h) and reactivates when the speed drops below this threshold.

If an obstacle is detected only by the center sensor, the intermittent tone stops after several seconds. The tone will also stop once the obstacle moves away from the Nissan Rogue.

When an object is detected, the indicator appears in green, blinks, and an intermittent tone sounds. As the Nissan Rogue approaches the object, the indicator changes to yellow and blinks faster. When the vehicle is very close, the indicator becomes solid red and the tone becomes continuous.

Example

As the vehicle moves closer to an obstacle, the sonar detection area appears on the vehicle information display.
